It also processes any embedded links, often converting them to Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) format. For developers whose content gets shared on Instagram, this conversion changes how pages load, what analytics fire, and what data leaks. Instagram's reshare feature amplifies those effects.

How Instagram Prepares Links for Stories

Instagram’s share-to-story mechanism extracts the URL from the original post and runs it through its internal link processing pipeline.
